It was a big surprise that Halloween night I was to play my cards if my heart was right I had been thinking about it again and again Do I take the chance and adopt this little man
It happened that evening you see When an Italian Greyhound came over to visit with me He needed a home since the one he came from Was no place for him or any dog to belong
I wasn’t too sure if this would work out But this little guy knew what it was about He scooted his bum up under himself And in to my arms that sweet little elf
He then planted his kisses all over my face And wiggled and squiggled all over the place He tore at my heart, just ripped it in two He knew just exactly what to do
You see, he needed me and I needed him, too The two of us together just like glue My eyes weld up and I started to blush And I played my cards, a Royal Flush
Bringing Cody Home
By Bobbie Hofer
Cody is an ex-racing Greyhound, A loser so they say. And that is how this Greyhound Came home with me today.
I heard about some Greyhounds Who knew only how to race. Who need a family’s love and care And to fill an empty space.
I went to see these Greyhounds And to my surprise I did see Cody, this amazing brindle boy, Coming over to visit with me.
He put his head upon my lap And put his gaze upon my face. Little did I know at that time He had filled my empty space.
He pushed his nose under my hand Pleading for a pet. I stroked his coat and he leaned on me Just how lucky could I get?
This funny little brindle boy Wondering if I knew He was asking for nothing more Than just a kiss or two
He has so much to offer And so little does he want This amazing little brindle boy So thin, so quiet, so gaunt.
He’s been through a lot This amazing boy A loser so they say And now I’m bringing Cody home The loving starts today.
